Classmates reunion

Last Saturday I met my classmates from High School for lunch...That was really fun! After 20 years, it was like we had met the day before!!!
I was wearing my self stiched silk blouse...which was a success!!!

Hi everyone!
I'm working on two dresses right now: a dark green wool crepes dress (view 1) and a stretch cotton, tiny stripes in blue and white (view 6)!


Two good things about them: first, I can wear a size 14!!! I had only 16...and always hat to resize the bottom part...!
Second, the pattern is just perfect...the dresses fit as a glove!!!
Hopefully I can upload some pics on the week end...so stay tuned!!!

Selling two vintage pieces

Coat...finito!!!!

Hi Ladies, I'm so proud to present you my first coat!
Well, it was very time consuming!!!
I must say it was not THAT difficult! The only thing that gave me an hard time was the lining!
The fabric is a 100% wool from Max Mara, and I must say it keeps very warm!
What do you think?
Yesterday it was a great sunny day, as you can see!!

As you can see from the two ladies in the back, everyone here wears black or dark jackets and coats...and vintage is not common...so I was kind of "exotic"!!!!

Italian TV format & Vintage

Hi Ladies,
here in Italy we have a nice TV Format called "Buccia di Banana", which is about women who need to get a re-style.

On the last episode the challenge was finding the perfect outfit wearing only vintage clothes. I wanted to share with you my favourite stylists, I Murr, who are just divine! Take a look at what they did with this woman....

Coat update

Hi there! So, my coat is almost done! I have to make three bound buttonholes, apply front facing, lining and do the hem. Unfortunately I can work on it only when the little one sleeps!!!
I went to one of my favorite fabric shops to get the buttons...I've found some vintage ones...very big things!!! Also I've found some great wool crepe, in dark green for € 5,00...a huge cut!!!So I'll make a dress out of it!!!

I'm happy with it, still I think I'll make a little smaller from the side next time.
I need to improve in sewing the zipper!

I have a problem with the back pleat: as I set in my car the fabric ripped in the upper side of the pleat, you know where the seam is. I was thinking to cover the disaster with a tiny bow...any other suggestions?
How do you enforce that spot?

Hi there! I'm a follower of Sew Retro for some months now.
I'm an Italian woman, living in Sardinia, an island in the Mediterranean Sea.
I love hand-made stuff! Since I always wanted to sew my own clothes, last month I took the courage and bought my first vintage pattern: Simplicity 3522.
I must say it was not that difficult!!!...the problem was that I didn't have a serger! But then my lovely husband fixed an one for me!!

Vintage baby booties

My first dress ever: Simplicity 3522

So readers, I'm very proud to present you my first self-stiched dress: a fantastic Simplicity 3522.
I chose a Tasmania 120, in a nice grey...elegant and simple!
What do you think?
I must say that probably as a beginner I should have chosen something easier!!!..but the pattern was fun to make and it turned out pretty!
The bodiece was perfect and I just needed to resize the skirt a little.
I'm planning to make a short sleeve one for Spring...maybe with a nice taffeta...let's see!
